So What's The Lightest Notebook Computer Anyway

I went looking for the lightest laptop the other day and after several hours of searching I was quite frustrated. Ultalight "notebook computer", "light-weight notebook computer"-I am continuing to try different approaches.

What I found was a lot of old machine-1, 2, even 3 years old. And tons of spam websites that take my search keywords and create a dynamic page. The link to the manufacturer and look for the actual product specifications to see who really has the lightest notebook computer. Fortunately I found finally the list to begin with, so here they are – the light weights.

Fujitsu LifeBook Q2010 weighs 2.2 lbs with a 12.1 inch screen. Unfortunately, having a 1.2 Ghz processor and a 30 GB hard drive but it comes with XP Pro, and DVD-writer.

Dell Latitude D420 has a 12.1-inch screen and is significantly cheaper but longer 1.2 GHz and slow (4200 rpm) 30 GB HD and weighs about 3 pounds. It also comes with 512 MB DDR2 533 SDRAM memory in the DIMM integrated.Upgrade to 1 GB or 1.5 GB makes sense, but the configuration 2 GB at an additional cost of $ 1000 (possibly because it requires 1.5 GB DIMMS).

Sony VAIO VGNTX750PB weight £ 2.76. It has a smaller screen (11.1 inches) from some of the others, 1.2 GHz processor, but it includes an 80 GB hard drive and a dual layer DVD + RW combo drives. Memory expandable to 1.5 GB.

Lenovo ThinkPad X 60 in 3.3 pounds has a 1.66 GHz Core Duo, 12.1-inch screen and a 60 GB hard drive. Expandable memory up to 4 GB in theory, but no optical drive. You want to get a ThinkPad X 6 Ultra base to add to the CD or DVD drive. That kind of blocking mobile applications.

Averatec AV2260, weighing 4 pounds, comes with a 1.8 GHz AMD Turion 64 mobile, 12.1-inch screen, 1 GB of installed DDR SDRAM, 80 GB hard drive and DVD +-RW Dual Layer-combo drive. So it is a bit like the Sony overweight on steroids. It is also the most expensive of the six lightweights. The others run from about $ 1,200 to over $ 2300 depending on the vendor and configuration.

Although slightly heavier at 4.4 pounds, HP Compaq nc6400 is unusual in having a 14.1 inch wide screen XGA. It comes with a 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo Processor, 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM memory, 60 GB hard drive and DVD/CD-RW drive. The lowest prices that I see in quick search, is $ 1259.99. Most of the models that I see advertised with the 80 GB drive and DVD +-RW/DVD-RAM optical drive, instead of 60 GB and a DVD/CDRW drive.

Light-weight notebook computer in the list is obviously Fujitsu. If you are truly ultralight notebook computer than you would receive some sacrifice.Personally, I think I'd rather have a more capable machine. I also like the small screen size is not on the notebook is very mild.

As with the purchase of computers, it is very important that you carefully analyze just what will you do with the machine. A light notebook only good because they're less hassle to carry around, but there are compromises that can create significant problems for less weight gain. In addition it tends to be more expensive, will almost always lighter notebook computer has a screen that is smaller and more compact keyboard from heavy notebook. Is not a real question you should ask yourself "what is a lightweight notebook computer?""what's light-weight notebook computers that meet my needs?"
